The Idaho Auto Dealers Form #1100 -- Buyer's Guide is a document that provides important information about a used vehicle to potential buyers. It is required by the Federal Trade Commission's Used Car Rule and is intended to help buyers make informed decisions about their purchase.
The Buyer's Guide includes information about:
Warranty information: Whether the vehicle is being sold "as is" or with a dealer warranty, and if so, what the terms of that warranty are.
Systems covered: A list of the major systems of the vehicle and whether they are covered by any warranty.
Other warranties: Information about any manufacturer's warranty that may still be in effect, or any other used vehicle warranties that apply.
Service contracts: Whether a service contract is available for purchase, and if so, what the details of that contract are.
Important reminders: The Buyer's Guide also includes important reminders for buyers, such as the importance of getting all promises in writing and having the vehicle inspected by a mechanic.
The Buyer's Guide must be posted prominently and conspicuously on or in the vehicle when it is offered for sale. Dealers who violate the Used Car Rule may be subject to penalties.
In addition to the English version, the Buyer's Guide is also available in Spanish (Form #1101).
The Idaho State Independent Auto Dealers Association offers the Buyer's Guide and other forms for sale to its members.
